As the season nears its culmination, Kenya’s biggest football event will be going down at Kasarani tomorrow (Saturday) – Gor Mahia versus AFC Leopards.

Even with the title race ‘already’ decided, nothing can be taken away from this mouth-watering clash pitting the country’s two biggest clubs.

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr knows the worth of playing such a fixture and to him, no player needs motivation to play in a derby.

‘’To play in this game needs no motivation… whoever plays can become a hero not just because we become champions but because it’s against AFC Leopards,” Kerr told Gor Mahia website.

It’s all about the rich football history that has existed between the two famous clubs in Kenya… the bragging rights that comes with winning a derby match can be second to none even if the two teams are deeply rooted in relegation zone – which is not the case at the moment.

Kerr added: “This is a big chance… it’s a big game, the rewards may never ever happen again in my players’ lifetime. I would like to urge them to make the most out of it. This game is not just about bragging rights, it’s about who wants it more.”

Gor Mahia having won the first leg 2-1 at the same venue almost a month ago, will be keen to pull a double over their rivals in match that a win or just a draw will definitely close the 2018 title debate – on when the league leaders will officially win the title.

It’s a match of contrasting interests, as Gor Mahia will be looking to pull a sweet one by winning the title at the hands AFC Leopards, their opponents will be out to end their prolonged wait for a league victory over this dominant Gor Mahia side and hope to better their position on the log.

Gor Mahia are comfortably perched at the summit with 68 points after 27 games with a big goal difference of +41.

Bandari and AFC Leopards come second and third – both with 48 points and goal difference of +13 and +10 respectively after the same number of games as Gor Mahia.

The match will kick off at 4pm.
