All time Champions Gor Mahia have announced that player recruitment is underway as the Kenyan Premier League champions begin preparations for a packed 2026/27 season, which includes the CECAFA Kagame Cup, the FKF Community Shield, the domestic league, and the CAF Champions League.
The announcement was made in a press briefing released by club chairman Ambrose Rachier on Saturday, following Gor Mahia’s successful 2025/26 campaign in which the club secured its 22nd Kenyan Premier League title.
Gor Mahia Thanks Players, Fans and Stakeholders
In the statement, Gor Mahia expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the club’s successful season.
The club thanked its players, technical bench, supporters, branch coordinators, stewards, security personnel, sponsors, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the Government, and the media for their roles throughout the campaign.
Club officials also praised supporters for maintaining discipline and helping change the perception of violence associated with football matches.
Leadership Matters Remain Before the Courts
Addressing growing speculation surrounding the club’s leadership, Gor Mahia declined to comment on ongoing governance issues.
The club stated that questions regarding the management structure, the identity of the club chairperson, and the term limits of officials cannot be discussed because they are currently before the courts.
According to the statement, commenting on the matters could amount to contempt of court while judicial proceedings are ongoing.
Recruitment Underway for New Season
Looking ahead, Gor Mahia confirmed that efforts to strengthen the playing squad have already begun.
The club outlined its upcoming competitive schedule, which includes:
- CECAFA Kagame Cup – Beginning 18 July 2026 in Rwanda.
- FKF Community Shield – Gor Mahia will face Tusker FC on 15 August 2026.
- 2026/27 FKF Premier League – Scheduled to kick off on 22 August 2026.
- CAF Champions League – Expected to begin in mid-September 2026.
New Kits to Be Unveiled
The record Kenyan champions also revealed plans to launch their new 2026/27 playing kits before the end of July.
Supporters were urged to avoid purchasing counterfeit merchandise, with the club emphasizing the importance of buying official products to support Gor Mahia financially.
Online Ticketing to Continue
Gor Mahia praised fans for embracing online ticketing during the recently concluded season despite a few operational challenges.
The club said it intends to continue using the digital ticketing system while also exploring the introduction of seasonal tickets to improve revenue collection and enhance the matchday experience.
Club Eyes Corporate Transformation
As part of its long-term vision, Gor Mahia disclosed that it has been benchmarking with other football clubs to explore transitioning into a more corporate and financially self-sustaining institution.
The move is expected to strengthen the club’s commercial operations and reduce reliance on traditional sources of funding as Gor Mahia continues competing domestically and on the continental stage.
