[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ig competitions like CAF tournaments do have regulations and requirements that shape up its nature to make it stand out.
One interesting element that is not common in Kenyan football is the doping test that is a requirement in group stage matches and not far from many local fans, one will be conducted just immediately after the match – Gor Mahia versus USM Alger.
CAF sent their anti-doping officer, Dr. Mustafa Mofty, who will conduct the test and submitt a report as required.
Mofty said that is just a requirement they normally do to promote openness and fairness in the game of football.
“We conduct such tests to keep the game clean and promote its good name. There should be openness and fairness and this is one way of promoting such,” Mofty told the official Gor Mahia website at Kasarani after the pre-match meeting.
The process is simple – two players and officials from both sides will head to the doping room where a random draw of shirt numbers will be done with just 15 minutes to the final whistle.
The picked players will then head straight to the doping room immediately after the match for the urine test to be conducted and results be known on a later date.
