Gor Mahia assistant coach Kobi-Mensah Bismark has called for full focus ahead of their crucial Matchday 30 Kenyan Premier League encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz this Sunday, 3rd May 2026 at Mumias Sports Complex.
Speaking during training, Bismark emphasized that celebrations following the recent Mashemeji Derby victory over AFC Leopards SC are now firmly behind them, with attention fully turned to the upcoming test.
“The jubilation is over after our win against Leopards. This week we’ve started preparing for the Kakamega game. So far, so good, we are still in preparation, but the signs are clear the team will be ready by Sunday.”

The assistant coach acknowledged the strength of Homeboyz, who currently sit among the league’s top contenders, warning that Gor Mahia must approach the match with both respect and determination.
“They are one of the good teams in the league, especially being in fourth position. When we played them in the first leg, they were the better side in the second half. They are a good team, respectfully.”
Despite the respect for their opponents, Bismark remains confident in Gor Mahia’s ability to deliver.
“It’s not a game beyond us. We are in a good position to face them well. The three points are very important, we want to win the league. If we do things right, it’s possible to get results.”

He also acknowledged the pressure that comes with the title race but maintained that it is part of the job.
“There will always be pressure as a coach, regardless of the situation.”
With the league title race intensifying, Sunday’s clash presents a pivotal moment for Gor Mahia as they look to maintain momentum and edge closer to their championship ambitions.
