Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo has urged the K’Ogalo squad to stay focused and disciplined as they push for the league title, emphasizing a “one game at a time” approach ahead of their clash with Kakamega Homeboyz FC.
Speaking to the players, Owalo advised them not to be overwhelmed by the remaining fixtures but instead concentrate fully on the immediate task.
“I want to advise you to take one game at a time. Don’t think of the five matches, just think of the next game. Our next game is in Kakamega, isn’t it? Plan for it and win it.”
He drew parallels with their recent Mashemeji Derby success, urging the team to replicate the same level of preparation and execution.
“Just the same way you planned for the derby and won it, plan for the next game and win that one. If we continue like that, we shall have locked up the remaining five games.”
Owalo stressed that breaking down the title run-in into manageable targets would be more effective than viewing it as one big challenge.
“As opposed to thinking of them wholesomely as one goal.”
The patron also reminded the players of the bigger objective, securing the league title and earning a place in the CAF Champions League.
“We did request you to win the league for us this time round so that we take part in the CAF Champions League. If you do that, you shall have made us proud.”
With crucial matches ahead against teams like Murang’a Seal FC, Mara Sugar FC, and Nairobi United FC, Gor Mahia’s title charge will depend on maintaining consistency and focus, exactly the mindset Owalo is pushing for.
