Developing Story: President Ruto Pledges KSh 10 Million to Gor Mahia as Players Set to Receive KSh 100,000 Each

Gor Mahia’s successful 2025/26 season has reportedly received a major boost after President William Ruto pledged a personal donation of KSh 10 million to the record Kenyan champions.

The financial support comes just days after K’Ogalo were crowned FKF Premier League champions for a record 22nd time, cementing their status as the most successful club in Kenyan football history. President Ruto had earlier congratulated the club for what he described as a remarkable achievement built on discipline, hard work, and resilience throughout the campaign. William Ruto Gor Mahia FC

According to reports, the President’s contribution will not only benefit the club’s operations but will also directly reward members of the title-winning squad. Every player, coach, and member of the technical bench is expected to receive KSh 100,000 in recognition of their efforts during the championship-winning season.

The donation is expected to provide a significant morale boost as Gor Mahia prepares for continental football next season. The club will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League after reclaiming the league crown and securing the country’s sole slot in Africa’s premier club competition.

The latest gesture adds to a growing list of financial rewards received by the Green Army following their title triumph. Recently, club patron Eliud Owalo rewarded the team with KSh 1 million after winning the league, while corporate partners have also stepped forward to support the club’s ambitions on the continental stage.

Earlier this week, Gor Mahia secured a lucrative three-year sponsorship agreement worth KSh 30 million with Kansai Plascon Kenya . The enhanced partnership is expected to strengthen the club financially as it prepares for the demanding CAF Champions League campaign. The deal represents a major increase from the previous sponsorship package and includes additional incentives linked to league success, derby victories, and continental achievements.

For Gor Mahia supporters, the President’s donation is being viewed as recognition of the club’s immense contribution to Kenyan football. The Nairobi giants remain the country’s most decorated football institution and the only Kenyan club to have won a continental title, having lifted the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1987.

As preparations for next season gather momentum, the financial backing from both government and corporate stakeholders is expected to enhance Gor Mahia’s competitiveness both domestically and in Africa, where fans will be hoping the club can rekindle memories of its historic continental exploits.
