Gor Mahia produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Murang’a Seal 3-1 in a thrilling FKF Premier League encounter played at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday evening.

The victory keeps Gor Mahia firmly in the title race and demonstrated the side’s attacking depth, composure and determination in front of an energetic crowd at Nyayo.

K’Ogalo started the match brightly and immediately imposed themselves on the contest with aggressive movement down the left flank. Their pressure paid off in the 17th minute when Samuel Kapen opened the scoring after a well-worked attacking move.

Shariff Musa caused problems for the Murang’a Seal defence with a powerful run on the left before delivering a dangerous ball into the area. The defenders hesitated while appealing for offside, allowing Kapen to calmly collect possession and stylishly lift the ball over the advancing goalkeeper for a deserved lead.

The early goal energized Gor Mahia, who continued dominating possession and creating chances through quick passing combinations and dangerous wing play.

Despite Gor Mahia’s dominance, Murang’a Seal fought back and grabbed an equaliser in the 37th minute through their leading scorer Joseph Irungu. Against the run of play, the forward capitalized on a defensive lapse before unleashing a powerful strike past the goalkeeper to level the score at 1-1.

Irungu’s goal, his 14th of the season, briefly silenced the home supporters as Murang’a Seal entered halftime with renewed belief after weathering sustained pressure from K’Ogalo.

However, Gor Mahia returned for the second half with greater intensity and quickly restored their advantage in the 51st minute through Shariff.

The goal originated from a well-executed attacking sequence following a throw-in. Frank Odhiambo’s clever touch created space inside the box before Shariff expertly guided the ball past goalkeeper Wilson Mwangi with precision rather than power. The finish sent the Nyayo crowd into celebration once again as Gor Mahia reclaimed control of the contest.

K’Ogalo continued to press forward and were rewarded again when substitute Ebenezer Asifuah added the third goal with a composed finish.

Shariff Moussa delivered an inviting cross from the right flank after an excellent attacking run, and Asifuah displayed outstanding control before calmly turning and finishing into the net. The goal capped another influential contribution from the substitute, who had also rescued Gor Mahia in their previous outing against Kenya Police FC.

The victory highlighted Gor Mahia’s attacking fluidity, tactical discipline and squad depth at a crucial stage of the season. With the title race intensifying, the result provides a major boost to K’Ogalo as they continue pushing for league glory.
