Former Harambee Stars midfielder and Gor Mahia legend Allan Thigo was cremated on Wednesday at the Hindu Crematorium in Kisumu following his passing on Saturday at his home in Bungoma.
Thigo, who remains one of the most respected midfielders in Kenyan football history, enjoyed a distinguished career with Gor Mahia and the Harambee Stars, where he was celebrated for his composure, vision and leadership in midfield.
Family members, former teammates, football officials and fans gathered in Kisumu to pay their final respects to the football icon whose contribution to Kenyan football spanned several decades.
During his playing days, Thigo played a key role in Gor Mahia’s domestic success and was part of a generation that helped elevate Kenyan football on the continental stage. His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from the local football fraternity, with many describing him as a humble leader and mentor to young players.
