Gor Mahia Receive Major Boost as Goalkeeper Omondi Nears Return from Injury

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have been handed a timely boost after first-choice goalkeeper Bryne Omondi stepped up his recovery from a nagging groin injury, raising hopes of an imminent return to action.

Positive Recovery Progress

The club confirmed that Omondi has resumed training and is responding well after spending weeks on the sidelines. The shot-stopper, who has been a key figure between the posts this season, is now edging closer to full fitness.

“Keeper Omondi has been training well, recovering fast from the groin injury that has kept him out for a while. He will be back in action soon,” the club shared in an official update.

His absence had briefly disrupted Gor Mahia’s defensive stability, forcing the technical bench to reshuffle goalkeeping options. However, his swift recovery now offers renewed confidence within the squad.

Key Boost for Title-Chasing K’Ogalo

Omondi’s return comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Gor Mahia firmly in the hunt for the FKF Premier League title. The team has maintained strong form despite injuries to key players, including defender Sylvester Owino, who is also recovering.

Before his injury setback, Omondi had established himself as the club’s preferred goalkeeper following his arrival earlier in the season. His performances had provided assurance at the back, making him an integral part of the team’s title ambitions.

Selection Headache for Technical Bench

With Omondi nearing full fitness, head coach Charles Akonnor could soon face a welcome selection dilemma. Stand-in goalkeeper Gad Mathews has impressed in his absence, delivering consistent performances that have kept the team competitive.

The impending return of Omondi will therefore intensify competition for the starting role, potentially strengthening the squad depth as Gor Mahia navigates a decisive run of fixtures.

Focus on Upcoming Fixtures

While his recovery is progressing well, sources indicate that the goalkeeper may still miss immediate fixtures as he builds match fitness. The technical team is expected to manage his return carefully to avoid any relapse.

For Gor Mahia fans, however, the signs are encouraging. With key players returning at a critical juncture, the record champions appear well-positioned to sustain their push for domestic glory.
