In a significant development for Kenyan football, Gor Mahia’s newly appointed Patron, Eliud Owalo, made a noteworthy appearance at Vitality Stadium in South England to witness an exciting English Premier League match between Bournemouth and West Ham United. Accompanying him was Kenya’s Deputy Head of Mission in the UK, Ambassador Dr. Joseph Warui, marking a moment of high visibility for Kenyan representation in the international sports arena.

Eliud Owalo took on the role of Gor Mahia Patron following the unfortunate passing of Hon. Raila Odinga on October 15, 2025, in India. Hon.

Odinga was not only a cherished politician but also an ardent supporter of Gor Mahia, known for his significant contributions to the club’s development over the years. Owalo’s appointment is seen as a continuation of this legacy and a beacon of hope for the club’s future endeavors.

Through the Eliud Owalo Foundation, he has been a catalyst for positive change, evidenced by his remarkable initiative of providing Gor Mahia with a new state-of-the-art bus, an investment aimed at boosting the team’s logistics and overall functionality.

The match at Vitality Stadium was not just a sporting event; it signified Owalo’s dedication to promoting sports and fostering ties between Kenya and the UK. His presence at the match served to inspire and rally support for Gor Mahia as they navigate their ongoing challenges in the competitive world of football.

Owalo’s vision for Gor Mahia extends beyond immediate welfare; he aims to tap into broader avenues for growth, including sponsorship and community engagement, ensuring that the club maintains its reputation as one of Kenya’s foremost football teams.

The visit to the UK, particularly at a time when the team needs encouragement and visionary leadership, sets a solid foundation for future collaborations and advancements in Kenyan football.
