CS John Mbadi Backs Gor Mahia State House Visit, Says Club Merits National Recognition

Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi, has expressed support for a proposed State House visit by FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia, promising to raise the matter with President William Ruto upon his return.

Speaking while congratulating the record Kenyan champions on their latest success, Mbadi stated that Gor Mahia’s achievements over the years warrant recognition at the highest level of government.

“Gor Mahia merits a State House visit. Which other club has won more trophies than Gor Mahia FC? It might take their closest competitor AFC Leopards SC 30–40 years to catch up with them. They are the best in East and Central Africa,” Mbadi said.

The remarks have been warmly received by Gor Mahia supporters, who have long argued that the club’s contribution to Kenyan football deserves greater national recognition.

Gor Mahia recently secured yet another FKF Premier League title, further extending their record as Kenya’s most successful football club. The Green Army have dominated domestic football for decades, winning multiple league championships, domestic cups, and regional honors while consistently representing Kenya in continental competitions.

Mbadi’s endorsement comes at a time when the club is preparing for another campaign in the CAF Champions League, where K’Ogalo will once again carry Kenya’s hopes on the continental stage.

A State House reception for the team would not only celebrate their latest league triumph but also acknowledge the club’s historic role in shaping Kenyan football. Founded in 1968, Gor Mahia has produced some of the country’s greatest football talents and remains one of the most supported clubs in East Africa.

The Treasury CS indicated that he would table the request during his next meeting with President Ruto, raising hopes among Gor Mahia faithful that the champions could soon receive official recognition at State House.

Should the proposal receive approval, the visit would mark a significant moment for the club and its supporters, who view Gor Mahia’s achievements as a source of pride for Kenyan football.

As the club shifts its focus to preparations for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign, attention will now turn to whether the champions will receive the State House invitation that many fans believe is long overdue.
