The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has unveiled the nominees for the 2025/26 SportPesa League Awards, with league champions Gor Mahia strongly represented across the Coach, Defender and Midfielder of the Season categories.
Fresh from guiding K’Ogalo to another league title, Charles Akonnor headlines the Coach of the Season shortlist, while Gor Mahia stars Paul Ochuoga and Enock Morrison have earned nominations in their respective categories.
Coach of the Season Nominees
Three tacticians have been shortlisted for the prestigious Coach of the Season award:
- Charles Akonnor (Gor Mahia)
- Fred Ambani (AFC Leopards)
- Sammy Omollo (APS Bomet
Akonnor is widely regarded as one of the frontrunners after steering Gor Mahia to league glory, while Ambani and Omollo have been recognized for impressive campaigns with AFC Leopards and APS Bomet respectively.
Best Defender Nominees
The Best Defender category features six outstanding performers:

Best Midfielder Nominees
Five midfielders have been nominated for their influential performances throughout the season:

- Tyson Otieno (AFC Leopards)
- Estone Esiye (Kakamega Homeboyz)
- Biron Otieno (Shabana)
- Geoffrey Ojunga (Bandari)
Morrison’s nomination comes after another productive campaign in Gor Mahia’s midfield, where his creativity, work rate and consistency played a key role in the club’s title-winning run.
