Saturday’s FKF Premier League clash between Gor Mahia and Sofapaka sparked a lively online debate, with much of the spotlight falling on newly signed K’Ogalo forward Ebenezer Kofi Assifuah.

The Ghanaian striker has made a promising start to life in green and white, scoring 2 goals in 3 appearances, all coming off the bench. However, against Sofapaka, opinions were sharply divided.

A Tough Day or Unfair Criticism?

Some fans and pundits felt it was one of Assifuah’s tougher outings. While the chances were there, the execution wasn’t quite right. His one-on-ones lacked conviction, his timing of runs seemed slightly off, dribbles didn’t always come off, and the final pass missed its usual sharpness.

To some, it looked like a player playing under pressure rather than with freedom. Yet, many fans strongly disagreed.

 Fans Rally Behind Assifuah

A dominant section of the K’Ogalo faithful defended the striker, insisting he actually played well and was simply unlucky.

Several supporters pointed out that service was an issue, especially when teammates held onto the ball too long instead of releasing it early. One fan noted that with quicker releases, “anaeza funga bao mingi sana.”

Others argued that Assifuah attracted three defenders almost every time he touched the ball, a clear sign of the respect Sofapaka gave him. This constant attention, fans said, created space for other Gor Mahia players to thrive and limited Sofapaka’s attacking intent.

There was also sympathy for his frustration. Missed chances, according to fans, came from desperation rather than lack of quality, especially with other attackers equally eager to get on the scoresheet.

“Just a Bad Day in the Office”

The most common verdict?

It was simply one of those days. Fans compared the performance to even the greatest strikers having off days, reminding critics that football is never about perfection. Some went further, praising Assifuah’s movement, aerial duels, link-up play, and even highlighting a dazzling skill move that nearly resulted in a wonder goal.

Others applauded the Sofapaka goalkeeper, calling him the real hero of the day.

 Super Sub Material?

Interestingly, a section of fans admitted they now understand why coach Otete prefers introducing Assifuah in the second half. His impact off the bench, they say, remains lethal—especially against tired defenders.

 Final Word from the Fans

The consensus among most Gor Mahia supporters is clear:

Assifuah is quality, dangerous, and still settling in.

Luck wasn’t on his side against Sofapaka—but form is temporary, class is permanent.

All eyes now turn to the next game.

K’Ogalo fans believe the goals will keep coming. 💚⚽
