Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia will face Mara Sugar on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, after the previously postponed FKF Premier League fixture was officially rescheduled.
The encounter will be played at Raila Odinga Stadium (ROSH), with kickoff expected to attract huge attention despite the league title already being decided.
The fixture had initially been scheduled for Sunday, May 24, but was postponed following a ruling by the Sports Disputes Tribunal over a dispute surrounding the venue.
The controversy emerged after several venue changes were proposed ahead of the clash. Mara Sugar objected to the relocation of the match to Homa Bay, prompting legal action that temporarily halted the fixture.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the game, Gor Mahia remained in Homa Bay to continue preparations while awaiting official communication from the Football Kenya Federation.
K’Ogalo head into the fixture in high spirits after officially securing the 2025/26 FKF Premier League title. Gor Mahia were crowned champions following APS Bomet’s 2-1 victory over AFC Leopards on Sunday, May 24, at Kericho Green Stadium.
The result ended AFC Leopards’ hopes of catching Gor Mahia in the title race, confirming K’Ogalo as league champions once again.
Wednesday’s match now offers Gor Mahia an opportunity to celebrate the title in front of their supporters while also concluding one of the season’s most dramatic fixture disputes.
