Chaos erupted at Dandora Stadium on Sunday in a match pitting Gor Mahia and Nairobi United.
The match was abandoned after Ovella Ochieng struck a second-half equaliser for Nairobi United against Gor Mahia, forcing match officials to abandon the game.
Gor Mahia went into half time bread leading 1-0, goal courtesy of Ebenezer Adukwaw in the 14th minute.
Tensions flared moments after Ochieng’s goal, with disturbances reported in the stands that spilled onto the pitch area. Referees halted play as security personnel moved in to restore order, but the situation failed to stabilise, prompting the decision to call off the match.
Players from both sides were escorted off the field amid heightened security, while fans were urged to leave the venue calmly. No official confirmation has yet been given on injuries or arrests.
Football Ke ya federation are expected to issue a statement on the incident and outline the next steps, including possible disciplinary action and whether the fixture will be replayed or decided through other means.
