The dust may have settled, but the fire from the Mashemeji Derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards is still burning strong.

In a light-hearted and engaging post across the club’s official platforms, Gor Mahia shared an imagined halftime conversation among players, capturing the mood, belief, and intent that defined their second-half performance.

The Turning Point

Following a first half in which K’Ogalo created several chances but failed to convert, the team made key tactical adjustments. Ben Stanley Omondi, Laurence Juma, Samel Kapen, and Ebenezer Assifuah were introduced, bringing renewed energy and control.

The breakthrough came in the second half, when Alpha Onyango scored the decisive goal to seal all three points.

GorMahia Vice Chaie Sally Bolo celebrates with the Green Army as Gor Mahia secure bragging rights over AFC Leopards, passion, pride, and victory in full display.

“Admin Leaks” the Halftime Mood

Gor Mahia’s social media team has now added fuel to the banter, sharing what’s being framed as a dressing room exchange during halftime:

Stanley:“Tumepoteza chances mob sana 1st half.” (We wasted too many chances in the first half.)

Juma: “Tulia, second half nitaingia nipige corner safi, bao itakuja… tulia.” (Relax, I’ll come in second half, deliver a clean corner, the goal will come… calm down.)

Kapen: “Usiwai tense, hawa hawako. Leo tumewakamatia chini… tutaingia tuwavuruge. Hii tunashinda.” (Don’t be tense, these guys aren’t on it. We’ve pinned them down… we’ll go in and finish them. We’re winning this.)

Gor Mahia midfielder Alpha Onyango and Ebenezer Assifuah celebrate a goal againf AFC Leopards.

While fictional, the message resonated strongly with supporters and reflected the team’s mindset heading into the second half.

The victory further strengthens Gor Mahia’s push in the title race, with the team showing resilience, tactical discipline, and unity in one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures. The message was clear: stay composed, trust the plan, and take control.

The result: AFC Leopards 0-1 Gor Mahia, underscored that belief, as K’Ogalo executed their strategy to perfection and walked away with derby bragging rights.

As celebrations continue among the Green Army, the derby once again proved why it remains one of the most iconic fixtures in Kenyan football.

The Mashemeji Derby once again lived up to its billing, with Gor Mahia combining performance and personality both on and off the pitch.
