Kerr: We lost focus against Thika

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter Thika United holding Gor Mahia to a barren draw at Thika Municipal stadium on Sunday, Gor’s head coach Dylan Ker has said the team worked without composure and lost focus to collect maximum points.

“Against Thika United, we worked without the composure. We thought we could break down a defensive team but it didn’t work. We controlled the game but I think we lost focus on the job we had to do. Fitness, sharpness and not doing what we had talked about cost us maximum points,” Kerr told the club’s website.

K’Ogalo’s head coach said the pitch’s condition was not an excuse but it hugely affected their style of play.

The field is not an excuse but our style of play was greatly affected and in fact, we were doing things I have not seen in training. I thought my back four were solid and only when we lost possession did we get caught out but Shakava and Musa were solid

Despite not collecting maximum points, Kerr said he is proud of his players and they can do better. “All in all, that was just one match and we will work on the lapses. I have fantastic players. They do give everything and if we had monitors in the league, people would see just how far and fast they run and the recovery runs they make.”

Focus now turns to weekend’s fixture against Tusker in Kericho, a match that is expected to be an explosive one.
