Gor Mahia midfield maestro Enock Morrison has been crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season following a remarkable campaign that helped K’Ogalo reclaim the league title.
The Ghanaian international was the biggest winner of the night during the SportPesa League Gala Awards held at the Glee Hotel in Nairobi on Thursday, June 4, scooping the prestigious MVP award after an outstanding season in green and white.
Morrison’s influential performances in midfield were instrumental in guiding Gor Mahia to a record-extending 22nd league title, restoring the championship to the club after a fiercely contested campaign.
In addition to being named the league’s Most Valuable Player, the 26-year-old also won the Midfielder of the Season award and earned a place in the SportPesa League Team of the Season, capping off a memorable evening for the talented playmaker.
Throughout the 2025/26 season, Morrison featured in 31 league matches, missing only a handful of games due to suspension. His contribution went beyond statistics, as he consistently controlled matches from midfield and provided the creative spark for Gor Mahia.
The former Asante Kotoko midfielder scored three goals and registered four assists while creating more than 20 goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates. Defensively, he also impressed by winning over 60 duels and making numerous crucial tackles throughout the campaign.
An emotional Morrison expressed his gratitude after receiving the award.
“I want to start by saying ‘asante sana’ to the Kenyan community for giving me a home away from home and for providing such an incredible support system,” he said.
“Winning this award is truly special, and I want to dedicate it to the late Raila Odinga and my beloved mother. Thank you for your support; this award is also for you.”
“Thank you, SportPesa, for this wonderful occasion and for the award.”
Morrison’s consistency was evident throughout the season, earning him 15 Man of the Match awards and approximately nine Team of the Week selections. He was also nominated for Player of the Month on three occasions and secured three Team of the Month appearances.
Having joined Gor Mahia in 2024, Morrison has quickly established himself as one of the most influential players in Kenyan football. His performances this season saw him edge out a strong field of contenders for the MVP crown, including Jim Owili of Mara Sugar, Gor Mahia teammate Shariff Musa, Joe Waithira of Murang’a SEAL, and Kayci Odhiambo of AFC Leopards.
The MVP recognition further cements Morrison’s status as one of the league’s standout performers and highlights his crucial role in Gor Mahia’s successful title-winning campaign.
With the league trophy secured and individual honours added to his growing collection, Morrison will now turn his attention to helping Gor Mahia make an impact in next season’s CAF Champions League.
