Former Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama has thrown his weight behind AFC Leopards as the club continues its impressive run in the league this season.
Wanyama, who began his professional journey at the club, reaffirmed his deep emotional connection and confidence in the current squad.
“Leopards will always be my club, and I’ll support them however I can,” he said, expressing hope that the team will maintain their strong form and go on to secure the league title.
His remarks come at a time of growing optimism among fans, as AFC Leopards’ consistent performances have sparked belief in a potential return to domestic dominance.
But on the other side of the divide, Gor Mahia fans aren’t having any of it.
In true Mashemeji Derby banter, a section of K’Ogalo faithful cheekily claim that even Wanyama knows where the real trophies belong.
“Support is one thing… but titles are decided on the pitch, and that’s where Gor Mahia speaks loudest,” one fan joked.
Others went further, playfully suggesting that if Victor Wanyama is looking for guaranteed silverware, he might want to “switch sides, even if just for this season.”
As the title race heats up, the rivalry between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia continues to deliver not just football, but plenty of entertaining off-pitch banter, just the way Kenyan fans love it.
