Gor Mahia midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi has received a late call-up to the Harambee Stars squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA Series set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda.

The call-up marks another significant milestone in the rapid rise of the 21-year-old, who continues to establish himself as one of Kenya’s most promising young talents.

Rapid Rise Through the Ranks

Born on April 24, 2004, Omondi began his football journey at Migori Youth FC, where he made his senior debut at just 16 years old in the National Super League. His early exposure to competitive football laid a strong foundation for his development, with his pace, creativity, and confidence quickly setting him apart.

His steady growth saw him feature for several Kenyan Premier League sides, including Muhoroni Youth, Ulinzi Stars, and Kakamega Homeboyz, where he gained valuable top-flight experience.

Breakthrough at Gor Mahia

Omondi’s career took a major leap forward following his move to Gor Mahia, initially joining on loan before becoming an integral part of the squad.

At K’Ogalo, he has grown into a key attacking asset, known for:

  • Direct attacking runs
  • Creativity in the final third
  • Tactical versatility across the front line

Whether deployed as a winger, forward, or attacking midfielder, Omondi has consistently delivered impactful performances, earning trust from the technical bench and admiration from fans.

Growing Influence with Harambee Stars

Omondi has steadily risen within the national team setup, earning multiple caps since his debut in 2025. His inclusion in Kenya’s squad for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) further underlined his importance to the team’s future.

The latest call-up to the FIFA Series in Kigali is a clear indication of his growing influence and consistency at both club and international level.

With Kenya looking to build a competitive squad for upcoming continental assignments, Omondi’s energy and attacking flair provide valuable options in midfield and attack.

A Player for the Future

Still only 21, Omondi represents the new generation of Kenyan footballers poised to take the national team forward. His journey from Migori Youth to Gor Mahia and now the Harambee Stars highlights a blend of talent, hard work, and determination.

As he heads to Kigali for the FIFA Series, all eyes will be on the young star to seize the opportunity and further cement his place on the international stage.
