Angry reactions have erupted among Gor Mahia fans following the club’s shocking elimination from the Mozzart Bet Cup after a 1–0 defeat to BB Bread FC at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
The loss has triggered intense criticism from supporters, many of whom accused players of complacency and lacking the hunger expected at a club of Gor Mahia’s stature.
Fans Question Players’ Commitment
Several supporters expressed frustration with the team’s attitude, claiming some players appear too comfortable because salaries are paid on time.

One fan bluntly stated:
“Mago e players baah… very comfortable bora salary end month… performance giwene ochuoga gini.” (Those are the players bro, very comfortable, there are salaries at the end month, they have left performance to the likes of Ochuoga)
Another supporter echoed similar concerns:
“Gin bora giidho bus to mshara donjo.” (provided they board the bus and their salaries are guaranteed)
The comments reflect a growing perception among sections of the fanbase that the squad lacks urgency and motivation on the pitch.

Calls for Squad Overhaul
Following the defeat, some fans suggested the coaching staff should trim the squad and focus only on players willing to fight for the badge.
“Tumebaki na ligi pekee… coach akuwe na 18 players tops. Hao wengine tuone nao games terraces.” (We have remained with the League only, the coach should have only 18 players. This others should be on terasses watching the game with fans)
Others criticized certain bench players who were given a chance in the match but failed to impress.
“So unashangaa player wa bench anapewa game against BB na anacheza vitu zake… mtu kama huyo sasa atawai pata nafasi tena kweli?” (So you’re surprised that a bench player is given a game against BB and he plays his stuff… will someone like that really get a chance again?)

Debate Over BB Bread’s Quality
While some supporters blamed Gor Mahia’s players, others acknowledged that BB Bread FC might be stronger than many assumed.
“Team eliminating top 2 KPL teams must be a very strong team.”
Another fan added:
“Regional by league… quality yao iko juu.” (Regional by league… their quality is high.”)
The giant-killing run by BB Bread has already seen them defeat two major Kenyan football giants, leaving many fans shocked but also impressed by the underdogs.

Frustration Over Repeated Cup Upsets
Some supporters also pointed out that this is not the first time Gor Mahia has suffered embarrassing cup exits against lower-tier opposition.
One frustrated fan wrote:
“So we can’t learn from past mistakes… the club keeps repeating the same thing. Mozzart final tulipigwa na Naibois, AP Bomet walitufyeka 4, leo hii ni BB Bread.”
Focus Shifts to the League
With the cup campaign now over, fans say the team must shift full focus to the Kenyan Premier League title race and ensure such disappointments do not repeat.
For many supporters, the message is clear: perform or face pressure from the terraces.
