K’Ogalo have added fresh firepower to their squad after completing the signing of highly rated Kenya U20 winger Elly Owande on a six-month loan deal ahead of the close of the transfer window.
The record FKF Premier League champions have moved swiftly to land the exciting wide man from National Super League promotion hopefuls Migori Youth, handing the Gor faithful another reason to be excited as the season heats up.
Owande returns to Kenyan football after a short stint in the United Arab Emirates, where he had joined Dubai-based side Al Nasr in September 2024. The winger and the club later agreed to terminate the contract mutually, paving the way for his return home and a brief spell with Migori Youth before the NSL leaders sanctioned his loan move to Gor Mahia.
At K’Ogalo, Owande reunites with familiar face Ben Stanley Omondi, as the Green Army continue to build depth and competition in attack.
A product of Migori Youth, whom he joined at just nine years old, Owande’s rise has been built on pace, direct running and fearless attacking intent, qualities that fit perfectly with Gor Mahia’s high-tempo, attacking philosophy. Migori Youth remain invested in his journey, having secured a 45 per cent sell-on clause during his move to Al Nasr.
On the international stage, the 20-year-old has been one of Kenya’s most exciting young prospects. He played a key role in the Kenya U18 team that reached the final of the 2023 CECAFA U18 Championship, before stepping up to the U20 side at the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi in March 2024, where the Rising Stars finished runners-up.
His progress earned him a place in the Kenya U23 squad for the 2024 COSAFA Cup in South Africa, while he has also represented Kenya in futsal at continental level.
Now wearing green and white, Owande will be keen to make an immediate impact and win over the Gor Mahia faithful as K’Ogalo push for success on all fronts.
