Gor Mahia’s players Austin Odhiambo, Felix Oluoch, Fidel Origa, and Joshua Onyango have returned to full training just days after being involved in a road accident. The incident, which occurred on Friday, November 28, 2025, while the players were en route to the training ground along Outerring Road, raised concerns among fans and the football community alike.

The four players were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment after the accident. Fortunately, they were discharged shortly after and were advised to rest for a couple of days. Thankfully, they have made a remarkable recovery, as confirmed by head coach Charles Akonnor during Monday’s training session.

“The boys are back and looking strong!” Akonnor stated with relief. “We are thankful to God that all the boys who got involved in the accident are healthy. Today was their first day back in training, and everyone is in good shape. It was a situation that could have taken someone out of the squad, but we are set and very ready as we prepare for the upcoming match.”

The return of these key players comes just in time for the highly anticipated Mashemeji derby against arch-rivals AFC Leopards. The match is set to take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the iconic Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. This derby is one of the most significant fixtures in Kenyan football, drawing massive attention and passion from supporters of both clubs.

The news of their recovery has been met with celebration from fans and the football fraternity, as Gor Mahia seeks to maintain its competitive edge in the league. With the team’s morale high and the players eager to contribute, the derby promises to be an exciting contest.

Gor Mahia will look to leverage their squad depth and fight for crucial points as they face AFC Leopards side. Fans are encouraged to turn out in large numbers to support their teams as they clash in this much-anticipated showpiece.
