Gor Mahia’s playing unit will have some radical changes as the club looks to bounce back from the previous challenging season that ended without any silverware for the first time since 2013.

After parting ways with the entire technical staff, including interim head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno and club CEO Ray Oruo, Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier shared that the club will also be making some tough decisions about our players.

“We have some players whose contracts are up for renewal. Those who have shown great potential will be considered,” Rachier mentioned. “However, players who haven’t quite met our performance standards may be released after careful evaluation by our professional coaching team.” Gor Mahia chairman said

In the past, FIFA has penalized Gor Mahia for mishandling contract terminations, but Rachier assured fans that this time, we’ll be proceeding with extra caution.

“We’ll make sure everything is done fairly to avoid any issues with FIFA,” he said, adding that players who want to explore opportunities elsewhere will have their requests handled separately, aiming for smooth and amicable transitions.

The club is also taking steps to improve gate collection processes, especially after the recent Mashemeji Derby in Homa Bay raised some eyebrows. Even though the stadium was packed, we only generated KSh 2.15 million in gate revenue, which sparked concerns about possible irregularities.

Vice Chairperson Sally Bolo spoke about the need for better ticketing procedures, while Rachier highlighted plans for enhancing transparency and security at our entry points.

“This situation pushed us to make some important changes. We’re clarifying the roles of Gor Mahia stewards and security personnel to ensure a smooth entry process. We want to address any benefits that individuals at the gate may have been receiving,” he explained. “

“From now on, any company we hire for ticketing at K’Ogallo matches will need to provide its security team at the gates. Plus, those responsible for welcoming fans will no longer be affiliated with the club”, Rachier added.

To make match days even better, Rachier confirmed that they will be providing thorough training for stewards to ensure a fantastic experience for everyone.
