Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder Allan Thigo has passed away this evening at his home in Bungoma after a period of battling cancer.
Thigo remains one of the most iconic figures in Kenyan football history. During his illustrious career at Gor Mahia, he scored 88 goals, placing him second on the club’s all-time scorers chart behind Sammy Onyango, who netted 93 goals.
A midfield maestro of his era, Thigo also proudly represented the Harambee Stars, leaving behind a legacy defined by creativity, leadership, and consistency on the pitch.
His passing marks a huge loss to Kenyan football, especially for a generation that witnessed his influence both at club and national level. Fans, former teammates, and the wider football fraternity will remember him not only for his goals, but for his contribution to the growth of the game in Kenya.
May his soul rest in peace. More news to follow
