Gor Mahia FC have taken another step off the pitch as they push to strengthen the club’s media presence, holding talks with Azam Media Kenya Ltd in Nairobi on Tuesday morning.

The meeting was led by the club’s Patron, Honourable Eliud Owalo, who sat down with Gor Mahia’s top officials and senior Azam Media executives to discuss how the two sides can work more closely going forward, a move many fans will hope translates into better coverage of local football.

K’Ogalo were represented by Chairman Ambrose Rachier, Secretary General Nick Arum, and Treasurer Gerphas Okuku, while Azam Media sent a strong team led by Ravi Kumar, the Country Head. He was joined by Suneel Sagar (Finance Manager), Martin Abuya (General Manager – Sales), and Julliet Maina (TV Production Coordinator).

Sources familiar with the talks say discussions centred on improving broadcast visibility, storytelling around the club, and giving fans better access to Gor Mahia content beyond matchday action. With Kenyan football supporters often struggling to follow their teams consistently on TV, the meeting has raised hopes of a more fan-friendly media approach.

Gor Mahia, the country’s most successful club, boast one of the largest fan bases in East Africa. However, club officials acknowledge that strong media partnerships are key to keeping fans engaged, attracting sponsors, and growing the game locally.

Azam Media, a major player in sports broadcasting across the region, reaffirmed its interest in working with local clubs and supporting the growth of Kenyan football. The broadcaster’s involvement is seen as crucial in improving production quality and reach, especially for domestic competitions.

While no formal agreement was announced, both sides described the meeting as positive, with further discussions expected in the coming days.

For K’Ogalo fans, the talks signal intent that the club is not only focused on results on the pitch, but also on how the Green Army experiences and connects with the team
