President Dr. William Ruto has announced that the newly constructed Talanta Stadium will be renamed Raila Amolo Odinga International Stadium in honor of the late Kenyan icon. The declaration was made during the Madaraka Day celebrations held at Nyayo National Stadium on Friday, 12th December 2025.
While addressing the nation, President Ruto referenced the ongoing development of the Talent Park in Jamhuri, acknowledging the significant progress made at the facility. He also noted the public sentiment regarding its naming.

“We are completing the Talent Park in Jamhuri. You know the great work that has been done there, isn’t it true?” President Ruto said, as the crowd erupted into chants calling for the stadium to be named after Raila Amolo Odinga.
Responding to the audience, he added: “And what did you say it should be named? You said it should be named Raila Amolo Odinga International Stadium? I have listened to you, and when we finish, we will do that.”
The stadium, scheduled for completion in March 2026, is expected to be one of the key venues for the AFCON 2027 tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
