Kisumu was alive with emotion as thousands of Gor Mahia members gathered to pay tribute to their beloved Club Patron, Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away on October 15, 2025. The outpouring of love and support for Baba, as he is affectionately known, reflected the tremendous impact he had on both the community and the nation.

The journey to Kang’o Ka JaRamogi became not just a path to honour his memory, but a celebration of the values he stood for: resilience, love, and compassion. Members from all corners of the country came together, showcasing their dedication to a man who helped foster unity through football.

The vibrant green army, a representation of Gor Mahia’s spirit, filled the streets with songs and chants, reminding everyone of the joy he brought into their lives.

Odinga’s commitment to uplifting sports continued until the very end. Just weeks before his passing, he had met with Gor Mahia officials and generously donated KES 10 million to support their participation in the ODM @20 celebrations that’s was held in Mombasa. This act of kindness epitomised his belief in the power of community and the importance of investing in the next generation.

As members recited “Jowi,” a term denoting strength and resilience, they created an atmosphere of remembrance that resonated across the lake region. His passion for football transcended borders, gaining admiration not only locally but also internationally. His loyalty to Arsenal in the English Premier League showcased his deep connection to the sport.

Today, as the K’Ogalo fraternity heads to Kang’o KaJ JaRamogi, they carry with them a legacy of hope and determination. This monumental gathering serves as a reminder that while we mourn the loss of a leader, we also celebrate the indelible mark he left on the hearts of many.

Honouring Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, the members are also reaffirming their commitment to his vision of unity and progress in the community and beyond. His memory will continue to inspire future generations to strive for greatness, in sports and in life.
