As if the derby wasn’t enough, the town will also be abuzz with excitement for Madaraka Day celebrations, attracting dignitaries from across the African continent. The celebration will kick off with a grand reception hosted by President William Samoei Ruto on Sunday, February 1, adding an illustrious touch to an already momentous weekend.

“Homa Bay loading gari ni 1500 kuenda na kurudi team one tudingli mapema ndio best Nairobi saa ngapi (Homa Bay is on the way! The round trip fare is 1500, so it’s best to book early),”declared one fan, passionately organizing travel plans from Nairobi.

Another organizer chimed in, “Homabay kata nyayo supametro rito date team ni otb team pesa (Whether it’s Homa Bay or Nyayo, the Super Metro date team is on the back (OTB).” reflecting the fervor and camaraderie among the supporters.

Yet, with the stadium’s capacity capped at 20,000, the organizers face the challenge of accommodating the massive wave of devoted fans expected to descend upon Homabay, the county lovingly dubbed the “land of endless potential.” To ensure that no supporter is left out, arrangements are already underway for large screens to be set up around the stadium, allowing those unable to enter the arena to immerse themselves in the excitement of the match.

This is not just a game; it’s a historic event that promises to etch itself into the hearts of fans. Tickets are selling fast online, and as the clock ticks down, anticipation builds for an unforgettable showdown that is sure to captivate soccer lovers everywhere.
