Gor Mahia is gearing up for their return to FKF Premier League action as they strive for a successful title defense. The defending champions are set to face Tusker FC at Machakos Stadium this Sunday 19th January 2025 in their first league match since their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks on December 22, 2024, just before the Christmas break.

Following the postponement of their earlier scheduled match against Tusker on January 5, along with other fixtures that weekend, Gor Mahia faced delays in resuming play, partly due to four key players joining Harambee Stars’ Mapinduzi Cup campaign. However, Head coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno remains optimistic about the team’s readiness for the upcoming challenges.

Despite the demanding schedule, he expressed confidence in the team’s ability to handle the situation effectively, Otieno emphasized the team’s preparation and fitness, highlighting the tough matches ahead against Tusker, Sofapaka midweek, and Kakamega Homeboyz the following Sunday.

“I think we are preparing well; we’re moving on as planned. Everyone is fit for selection, and we’re focused on our upcoming matches. Sunday’s game against Tusker will be tough, followed by midweek against Sofapaka and next Sunday against Homeboyz in Mumias. It’s a challenging schedule, but we’re ready,” Orieno Said.

Acknowledging Tusker’s strength, Zico reaffirmed Gor Mahia’s determination to showcase their dominance on the field. With a focus on securing victories, he emphasized the team’s goal to win each game while respecting the unpredictability of football outcomes.

“Tusker has always been a strong team, but Gor Mahia is the defending champion. We won’t make it easy for them. The boys know the importance of every match, and we’re preparing accordingly. Football has three possible results, and we take each with humility, but our goal is always to win,” added Otieno.

A win against Tusker would propel Gor Mahia ahead of them in the league standings, currently trailing the Brewers and leaders KCB. As the season resumes, all eyes will be on K’Ogalo to see if they can maintain the momentum necessary to clinch another league title.
