Burundian forward was on the target this evening scoring the crucial goal to put Gor Mahia love on the race to FKF Premier League. The striker came from the bench in the 59th minute scoring the only goal of the game 15 minutes later.

It was a well-balanced game for 30 minutes with both sides attempting to create spaces for opened but neither could manoeuver to unlock the other’s defense line. With such pressure, former K’Ogalo midfielder Lawrence Juma found himself in the foul’s book after fault play in the 20th minute.

Youngster Alpha Onyango’s attempt in the 35th was not strong enough to beat Sofapaka’s goalkeeper Kevin Omondi who picked the low drive easily.

A few minutes later, attacking midfielder Clifton Miheso beats Nixon Omondi to deliver a well-shot to the Sofapaka goal side, but the ball went over to the back post.

The second half began with great tempo with K’Ogalo pilling all the pressure needed to unlock the stalemate, but all chances created deliver little to the much-needed result.

This required a change of plan and Burundian national Jules Ulimwengu was brought in and defender Andrew Juma was taken out, converting K’Ogalo formation to 4-3-2-1.

The change took 15 minutes to bear fruit after the forward’s best-calculated move with a partnership with Muguna’s brilliant assist in the 74th minute of the game.

Ulimwengu looped the ball over Sofapaka custodian Kevin Omondi after measuring his slight distance gap from the goalpost.

The lead saw batoto ba mungu frustrated and could not penetrate the K’Ogalo defence.

Gor Mahia are now in position 3 of FKFPL table with 37 points, five (5) shy of current league leaders KCB.
