Gor Mahia vs Sofapaka battle has been taken to Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium in Taita Taveta County. The midweek match will kick off today at 3.00 pm.
Having won the second consecutive match with a 1-0 win over City Stars, K’Ogalo is prepared to grab another victory this afternoon match scheduled to kick-off at 3.00pm.
Out og 24 KPL matches played, Gor Mahia has won 12 and losing 4 with the remaining 8 matches ending in a draw. The last meeting in Narok country however saw the defending champions go done 3-1 to Batoto ba Mungu.
Speaking to Standard media, Gor Mahia assistant coach Sammy Omollo said they must beat Sofapaka to keep their chances of topping the table by June 30 and play in the Caf Champions League.
“I believe everything is achievable in football and to be top of the standings by the end of June is possible. Gor is a team that has a lot of talented players and we are banking on them to lift the team up in the coming matches,” said Omollo.

But Sofapaka had vowed to tech K’Ogalo a lesson with headcoach Ken Odhiambo optimistic his charges will keep their momentum when they face Gor Mahia.
“We’re well prepared for the clash at our home ground and we want to make sure we emerge victorious. Though we respect our opponents, I don’t see any reason why we should lose the game,” said Odhiambo.
Gor Mahia are at the 6th place in FKFPL log with 22 points with the ninth placed Sofapaka have 19 points.
Interesting even to watch this afternoon is the re-union of the former Gor Mahia midfielder Lawrence Juma who now dons Sofapaka colours meet his counterpart Kenneth Muguna. The two were in the same team when they beat Sofapaka in January 2020.
