Gor Mahia head coach Steven Polack has dedicated his delayed February Fidelity Insurance coach of the month award to his staff and players.

The award was supposed to be presented in March, but the event was indefinitely suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Polack beat AFC Leopards’ Anthony Kimani and former Bandari interim coach Twahir Muhiddin to the gong after guiding the 18 times Kenyan Premier League champions to three wins, a 3-1 defeat to Sofapaka and a 1-1 draw against Western Stima in February.

Speaking after picking up his third gong (October and November) since joining Gor Mahia last year, the former Asante Kotoko boss said the award which came with Ksh. 75,000 will go along way to cushion him during this difficult period.

“It’s a honor to get my third coach of the month award. I’m just as pleased as I was when I got my first award. As an individual award, it makes you feel good but football for me is a group so I dedicate this award to my staff and players for the hard work they put in,” said Polack.

“Without them, I wouldn’t be standing here with this trophy. I want to give a big thank you to them and this trophy also belongs to them and to the supporters. We all know Gor Mahia have the biggest supporters in Kenya, they always want the team to do well and pushes it.”

He continued: “It is not all about the money, but the hard work that we have put in as a group. That’s why I have this trophy for my staff and players. But of course it’s going to help a little bit.”
