Kenya Police FC head coach Nicholas Muyoti may still believe the title race is alive, but the numbers paint a difficult picture for the defending champions with only four matches left in the 2025/2026 FKF Premier League season.
Police currently sit third on the table with 51 points, a massive 13 points behind leaders Gor Mahia, who are on 64 points with the same number of matches remaining.
Despite the gap, Muyoti insists his side is not ready to surrender the championship without a fight ahead of Sunday’s crucial showdown at Nyayo National Stadium.
“We are not done with the title. We are still in it, fighting, and we will fight to the end. The game against Gor is a perfect opportunity to send that statement, and I believe the boys will show just that,” Muyoti said ahead of the clash.

The former Nairobi United tactician admitted his players understand the league is slipping away but says belief inside the camp remains strong.
“The boys know the league is running away, but they are in for the fight. They have told me they are still in it, so we have to push until the end. Facing Gor Mahia is a motivation in itself, and I know they will rise to the occasion,” he told the club’s media.
Realistically, even if Kenya Police finish the season strongly with near-perfect results and hope Gor Mahia drop crucial points, the best possible outcome for them would now be second place. However, even that is not guaranteed, as it would also require AFC Leopards, who currently sit second with 58 points, to drop points heavily in their remaining fixtures.
With four matches remaining, the maximum points Police can collect is 12, meaning they can only finish the season on 63 points. That means Gor Mahia require just one more point from their remaining fixtures to officially end Police’s title hopes.

The reality makes Sunday’s encounter more than just another league fixture, it is effectively a must-win game for Police. Anything short of victory could hand Gor Mahia a decisive advantage in the title race and potentially move them within touching distance of another FKF Premier League crown.
Still, Muyoti’s comments appear designed to keep morale alive within the squad. In high-pressure title races, belief can sometimes be as important as mathematics, and the Police coach is clearly determined to ensure his players remain competitive until the final whistle of the season.
For Gor Mahia, the equation is simple, avoid defeat and move one step closer to reclaiming the title. For Kenya Police, Sunday may represent their final realistic opportunity to upset K’Ogalo early championship celebration.
