Mashemeji Derby, set for Sunday, 26 April 2026, will be the final match played at Nyayo National Stadium before the iconic venue is officially closed for major renovations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027.

The blockbuster clash between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, Kenya’s most passionate football rivalry, will bring down the curtain on an era at the historic stadium, which has hosted generations of memorable football moments.

The closure is part of Kenya’s wider infrastructure upgrade program in preparation for hosting AFCON PAMOJA 2027, with Nyayo National Stadium set for major refurbishment to meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) international standards.
