Presidential aspirant and Gor Mahia Patron Eliud Owalo has outlined an ambitious vision to transform Kenya into a continental and global sporting powerhouse, placing sports at the center of his economic transformation agenda.
Speaking during an engaging morning interview on Capital FM with presenters Chiko Lawi and Fellaris Wambui, Owalo detailed his broader Third Liberation vision—an economic blueprint aimed at reshaping Kenya’s future.
Sports at the Heart of Economic Transformation
Owalo emphasized that sports will play a critical role in job creation, youth empowerment, and national development. He noted that Kenya has immense untapped talent that, if properly nurtured and supported, can position the country as a dominant force in Africa and beyond.
According to Owalo, investing in sports infrastructure, talent development systems, and global competitiveness will not only uplift athletes but also stimulate economic growth through industries such as media, tourism, and the creative economy.
The Third Liberation Agenda
Beyond sports, Owalo’s Third Liberation agenda focuses on:
- Reducing taxes to ease the burden on citizens
- Lowering the public debt burden
- Enforcing zero tolerance to corruption
- Providing free primary and day secondary education
- Ensuring free healthcare in public hospitals
- Transitioning Kenya into a digital and creative economy
- Strengthening constitutionalism and the rule of law
He stressed that these pillars are interconnected and essential in building a more inclusive, opportunity-driven nation.
A Call for National Momentum
Owalo called on Kenyans to rally behind a new vision that prioritizes economic empowerment and equal opportunity, noting that the time for transformative action is now.
He also thanked Capital FM for providing a platform to engage Kenyans on critical national issues and share his vision for the country’s future.
