Gor Mahia once again demonstrated why they remain the undisputed kings of the Kenyan Premier League after a commanding 3-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
With a 10-point lead at the top of the table, the title now looks firmly within reach for K’Ogalo, and many fans believe it would take a miracle for any KPL side to close that gap.
Early breakthrough
The match began with immediate drama when Gor Mahia were awarded a penalty in the 9th minute. Midfielder Enock Morrison stepped up confidently and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Ulinzi tried to respond quickly. In the 24th minute, Birgen delivered a dangerous ball into the box which Nyongesa met with a header, but Gor Mahia goalkeeper Omondi reacted brilliantly to keep the ball out.
Despite Ulinzi’s efforts, Gor Mahia controlled large spells of the game, launching wave after wave of attacks that kept the home side’s goalkeeper constantly busy.
Gor Mahia in control at halftime
K’Ogalo went into the break leading 1-0, though they had created several chances that could easily have extended their advantage. The only concern for the visitors in the first half was an injury to defender Sylvester Owino.

Second half pressure
The second half started with both teams creating opportunities. In the 50th minute, Muchiri delivered a dangerous free kick that forced a brilliant save from the Ulinzi goalkeeper.
Moments later, Ulinzi nearly equalized when Musa got a close-range opportunity, but Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper produced another excellent save. However, as the game progressed, Gor Mahia’s pressure eventually paid off.
Essombe doubles the lead
In the 68th minute, a costly defensive error by Ulinzi’s Bildad allowed Gor Mahia to capitalize. Substitute Patrick Essombe seized the opportunity and fired home Gor Mahia’s second goal, putting the visitors firmly in control.
Musa seals the win
Just seven minutes later, Gor Mahia struck again. Musa Shariff finished off a well-worked move to make it 3-0, effectively killing the contest and sending K’Ogalo fans into celebration.
Late consolation for Ulinzi
The hosts managed to pull one back late in the game. In the 88th minute, Sam Odhiambo scored a consolation goal for Ulinzi Stars, but it proved too little too late as Gor Mahia comfortably saw out the match.
Title race slipping away for rivals
The emphatic victory strengthens Gor Mahia’s position at the top of the table. With a 10-point cushion, it will be extremely difficult for any team in the Kenyan Premier League to catch up.
Week after week, Akonnor’s boys continue to show consistency, dominance, and championship mentality.
If they maintain this form, the league title may soon be a formality rather than a possibility.
