Gor Mahia F.C. Chairman Ambrose Rachier Reacts After Shock BB Bread FC Defeat in Mozzart Bet Cup
Gor Mahia F.C. chairman Ambrose Rachier has expressed his disappointment following the club’s shock elimination from the Mozzart Bet Cup after a 1–0 loss to BB Bread FC on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Speaking after the match, Rachier admitted the result and the team’s performance were not good enough, but noted that surprising outcomes are part of football.

The defeat ended Gor Mahia’s hopes of winning a domestic double this season.
“I have already spoken to the players and the technical bench to try and understand what led to this performance,” said Rachier.
“We are not experts in football, but from what we saw, it was not very good football today. Of course, sometimes results like this happen.”
The chairman acknowledged that BB Bread had already proven to be a strong opponent after earlier eliminating AFC Leopards in the same competition.

“The team we played is a good team. They have already beaten AFC Leopards, so the result should not be a complete surprise,” he added.
However, Rachier emphasized that the club leadership is not satisfied with either the result or the manner in which the team played.
“We are not happy with the results or even the way we played. I have asked both the technical bench and the players to explain if there is anything that is causing this so that we can address it as the leadership of the club,” he said.

Despite the disappointment, the long-serving chairman pointed out that football often produces unexpected outcomes, citing similar upsets seen in other competitions around the world.
“As people say, such is football. Sometimes very unexpected results happen. You can even see in competitions like the FA Cup where smaller teams almost humiliate bigger teams,” he noted.
Gor Mahia will now shift their full focus to the Kenyan Premier League title race as they look to bounce back from the cup disappointment.
