Gor Mahia has announced that it has mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Sinisa Mihic, concluding his brief three-month tenure with the club. The announcement was made on Monday, May 19, during a pivotal moment in the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season. In the statement, the club confirmed that Mihic’s assistants will assume interim coaching responsibilities as the team enters the final stages of a competitive title race.
There have been reports of challenges within the technical staff, with Mihic facing difficulties in his relationships with key team members, including assistant coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno and technical team members Victor Nyaoro and Michael Nam. This situation was further complicated by a series of results that did not meet the club’s aspirations, putting additional pressure on Mihic’s position.
Given recent developments, it was perhaps not surprising that Mihic’s departure came to pass, particularly as it echoed the experiences of his predecessor, Brazilian coach Leonardo Neiva, who also concluded his time with the club after a brief period.
Otieno, who has stepped in as interim coach alongside Nam, has a history with the team, having previously led the squad following Neiva’s departure. He now faces the important task of guiding the team through this critical phase of the season.
While the specific reasons for the change were not disclosed, the club expressed its gratitude for Mihic’s contributions during his time with Gor Mahia.
