Tusker FC secured a remarkable 2-1 victory against Gor Mahia at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, ending their series of defeats in a thrilling match. Ryan Ogam emerged as the hero for the Brewers, scoring a brace that included a dramatic stoppage-time goal to clinch the hard-fought win over their rivals.
The game kicked off evenly, with both teams struggling to create clear scoring opportunities. Despite Tusker’s early efforts being well-handled by Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper Brian Opondo, the visitors faced an early setback when Mike Oduor was substituted due to a concussion in the 32nd minute. Dennis Wanjala replaced him and swiftly made an impact by setting up Ogam, whose shot was saved by the keeper.
After a goalless first half, the deadlock was broken five minutes into the second half when Dennis Oguta found Ogam with a precise pass. Ogam displayed his prowess by outplaying the keeper and finding the back of the net, marking his 14th goal of the season and giving Tusker the lead.
Gor Mahia responded by making three substitutions in the 64th minute, introducing Enoch Morrison, Samuel Onyango, and Bryson Wangai. The changes paid off as Austin Odhiambo leveled the score with a remarkable free kick from 25 yards out in the 69th minute.
However, Tusker had the final say. In stoppage time, a well-executed free kick by Dennis Wanjala located Ogam, who headed in the winning goal, securing the vital victory for Tusker and halting Gor Mahia’s dominance over them.
This triumph not only awarded Tusker three crucial points but also ended their prolonged losing streak against Gor Mahia. Ryan Ogam’s exceptional performance further cemented his status as one of the standout players in the FKFPL this season, scoring his 15th goal.
