Four former K’Ogalo stars set to face their past in ‘Nyanza derby’

Struggling Shabana gears up for an intense clash against reigning champions Gor Mahia this Saturday at Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu but the spotlight is not just on the match itself.

Four of Shabana’s players, all former Gor Mahia athletes, add layers of intrigue and history to this Nyanza Derby.

Seasoned goalkeeper Fredrick Odhiambo is among those facing his former team.

Having defended the posts for Gor Mahia at one point in his varied career, Odhiambo brings a wealth of experience from his time not only in Kenya with teams like Sofapaka and Wazito but also internationally in Rwanda.

His familiarity with Gor Mahia’s strategies could prove crucial for Shabana as they attempt to thwart the champions.

Burly striker Enock Agwanda is another ex-Gor Mahia player looking to make an impact.

His ability to score from long throws reminiscent of legendary Tobias Ocholla, might just be the wildcard Shabana needs.

Lloyd Khavuchi

While Lloyd Khavuchi, currently on loan from Gor Mahia, will not play due to contract stipulations, his insider knowledge of Gor Mahia’s tactics could be invaluable to Shabana’s preparations.

His recent partnership with Benson Omala at Gor Mahia provided insights into the attacking strategies that Shabana might face.

Alvin Ochieng’, though sidelined for the game owing to the terms of his loan agreement, remains a critical figure in this narrative.
