Former Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo has voiced her strong criticism of the match officials for their poor refereeing in the recent match against Murang’a Seal.

The FKF Premier League clash which ended in a goalless stalemate was marred by controversial refereeing decisions that triggered chaos and mayhem at full time.

The aftermath of the match saw significant damage inflicted on sections of the Kasarani Stadium with seats uprooted and an electric meter box destroyed.

Bolo took to her social media handle to express her disappointment and concern over the deteriorating situation.

In her statement, she called out the match officials for their inadequate officiating and urged fans to express their dissatisfaction in a more responsible manner.

“In a disappointing turn of events, Gor Mahia, our beloved club, is set to face the repercussions of fan misconduct at the Moi Kasarani Stadium. Following our protest against what they perceived as poor officiating during the game against Murang’a Seal, some fans resorted to vandalizing seats, window panes, and an electricity meter box,” she wrote.

The former treasurer stressed the importance of recognising that actions, even in moments of frustration, come with consequences.

She emphasised that while dissatisfaction with officiating is understandable, resorting to vandalism only tarnishes the reputation of the club and burdens it with a damages bill.

“It’s disheartening to see the club paying a high price for the actions of a few, emphasising the need for restraint even in the face of provocation,” she noted.

Highlighting the broader implications of poor officiating, Bolo stressed that such instances not only undermine the spirit of fair play but also cast a shadow on the credibility of the entire competition.

“Our match officials should know that such instances of poor officiating not only undermine the spirit of fair play but also cast a shadow on the credibility of the entire competition. As passionate supporters of the sport, we invest our time, emotions, and resources into following these events, expecting a level playing field for all teams involved,” she asserted.

Despite the controversy surrounding the match and the ensuing chaos, Gor Mahia remains in a strong position in the league.

Jonathan McKinstry coached side currently holds the second position with 21 points, just one point behind league leaders Posta Rangers.

Murang’a Seal, who were the opponents in the contentious match, are currently in third place level on points with Gor Mahia but with an inferior goal difference.
