World Football Governing body FIFA has lifted the transfer ban imposed on record Kenyan Premier league champions Gor Mahia FC.
In the announcement made n Friday 24th Martch 2023, K’Ogalo can now register new players
The ban was eased after Gor Mahia cleared money owed to former players Malian goalkeeper Adama Traore and midfielder Jackson Owusu from Ghana. Gor Mahia was made to part with Ksh.998,000 as a fine paid to FIFA.
The club is expected to get into the transfer market which closes next Monday after being banned for two years for failing to honor the contractual obligations entred between the two players and the club.
Owusu joined Gor Mahia in 2019 in February and left after 6 months after the club failed to renew his contract while Traore joined the club in 2021 and failed to get a regular spot in the teams first 11 forcing him to depart.
The lifting of the suspension allows Kogallo to bolster their lean 18 man squad which is perched at the top of the Kenyan Premier League standings with 42 points, 6 points ahead of second placed KCB FC.
