Gor Mahia to play Coast Combined at the Coast

Gor Mahia will play their first pre-season training match on Sunday when they take on a Coast Combined side at the newly built Ronald Ngala sports grounds.

K’Ogalo kicked off their pre-season training earlier this week on Monday at Camp Toyoyo in preparation for the FKF Premier League kick-off set for August 27 and will be testing their progress after one week of training.

Accompanied by their new tactician, Jonathan McKinstry, who was unveiled on Friday, Gor departed for Mombasa on Saturday for the test match set for Sunday afternoon according to an announcement on their pages.

“The team is on its way to Mombasa to play a friendly match against Coast Combined tomorrow – first pre-season match,” the post read.

Earlier, the assistant coach Michael Nam, then serving as the interim coach, had hinted that the team would remain coy with their preseason preparations, more so on friendly matches as they are not sure when the next season begins but that seems to have changed following the announcement of the kick off date by the FKF Transition Committee.

The newly appointed Irish boss revealed that his main task at the record Kenyan champions will be to get the team back to the top of the hierarchy in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, with the pre-season friendly matches being key for his evaluation.
