Record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia have officially confirmed that new midfield signing Lesley Otieno will wear the iconic jersey number 19 ahead of the 2026/27 season, as the club continues strengthening its squad for domestic and continental assignments.
The club unveiled the midfielder with the message:
“Midfielder Lesley Otieno will don jersey number 19 as he joins the home of champions. Welcome to Mahia, Lesley!”
Otieno joins K’Ogalo after an impressive spell with newly promoted SportPesa Premier League side Nairobi United, where he established himself as one of the club’s most reliable midfielders. His energetic displays, tactical awareness and composure in possession played a key role in Nairobi United’s rise and competitive performances in the top flight.
The midfielder, who previously featured for Kariobangi Sharks, arrives at Gor Mahia as one of the club’s latest acquisitions in an ambitious rebuilding exercise under the technical bench. The Kenyan champions have been busy refreshing their squad following several departures, with the aim of defending their league crown while mounting a strong challenge in the CAF Champions League.
Known for his work rate, intelligent passing and ability to dictate the tempo of matches, Lesley is expected to provide additional competition in Gor Mahia’s midfield. His versatility allows him to operate as a central midfielder, holding midfielder or box-to-box player, giving the coaching staff more tactical options throughout the season.
The assignment, however, will not be an easy one. Gor Mahia boasts one of the strongest squads in Kenyan football, meaning Otieno will have to earn his place in a highly competitive midfield. Nevertheless, his performances over the past season suggest he possesses the qualities needed to thrive at the country’s most successful club.
Supporters have already welcomed the announcement with excitement, hoping the new No. 19 will quickly adapt to life at K’Ogalo and help the Green Army maintain its dominance in Kenyan football.
With preseason preparations gathering pace, all eyes will now be on Lesley Otieno as he begins his journey in green and white, carrying the expectations that come with representing the record league champions.
