Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has sent a strong message ahead of today’s crunch clash against Tusker FC, insisting his side is fully locked in despite disruptions surrounding the fixture.
K’Ogalo head into the encounter at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga knowing that nothing short of victory will keep their title charge firmly on track, and Akonnor has made it clear: his team is ready.
Focused Despite Disruptions
The Gor Mahia tactician admitted that changes in match dates and venues were far from ideal, but emphasized that his players have remained mentally strong and unfazed.
“At a point in time, we were going to play on a different date, then it was changed to Kasarani, and all of a sudden we went back again. It’s not the best situation for a focused team,” he said.
“But we’ve taken it in good faith, believing that if we do the right things at the right time, we’ll carry the day.”

Pressure? K’Ogalo Thrive Under It
With Tusker breathing down their necks in the standings, he stakes could not be higher, but Akonnor insists pressure is nothing new for K’Ogalo.
“Because of how close our opponents are to us, it brings a bit more pressure. But we are calm. We understand the task ahead,” he stated confidently.
Team Ready for Battle
The former Ghana international revealed that the technical bench has spent the past week preparing the squad thoroughly, both mentally and physically, for what promises to be a fierce battle.
“We’ve been able to psych the boys from the first week of training until now. We are focused and ready for the match,” he affirmed.

All Eyes on Wang’uru
With fans eagerly awaiting kickoff, Gor Mahia will be looking to rise to the occasion and deliver a statement performance. A win against Tusker could prove decisive in the title race, and K’Ogalo know exactly what is at stake.
