Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars defender Michael Kibwage is in celebratory spirits today as he marks his 28th birthday.

Known for his robust defensive abilities and skillful contributions to the team’s offensive strategies, Kibwage is taking this special day to reflect on his journey in football and express his appreciation for the support he has received from fans and family.

In a heartfelt message shared on his social media, Kibwage expressed his gratitude to those who took the time to wish him well, stating, “Birthdays are reminders of where you have come and where you are headed, and an affirmation of God’s goodness. Delighted to be turning a year older and wiser. Cheers to what’s ahead!” His words resonate with a sense of optimism and a reminder of the importance of personal growth.

Kibwage’s football career is a testament to his talents and hard work. Born and raised in Nairobi, he began his football journey at FISA Academy, where his potential quickly became evident. Earning a scholarship to St. Ignatius Mukumu Boys High School allowed him to develop his skills further, leading him to join the Kakamega Homeboyz under-20 team, where he showcased his exceptional abilities over three consecutive years in the KPL under-20 championships.

In 2017, Kibwage made a significant leap in his career by signing with AFC Leopards, a club renowned for its storied history in Kenyan football. Despite a mixed experience during his two seasons there, his determination saw him transition to KCB, where he flourished under the guidance of coach Robert Matano. Kibwage credits Matano for nurturing his growth at the top level.

After a successful run at KCB, Kibwage moved to Sofapaka in 2020 for a season before joining Tusker FC from 2022 to 2023. His recent transfer to Gor Mahia in August 2025 marks another chapter in his career, where he continues to excel as a central defender and team captain.

His leadership qualities have not gone unnoticed, as he has captained nearly all the clubs he has played for. Kibwage’s exceptional performance at the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations jChampionship (CHAN) 2024 garnered attention from multiple clubs, but it was Gor Mahia that secured his services, promising an exciting future ahead.

As Michael Kibwage celebrates this landmark birthday, fans and teammates alike are eager to see how he continues to impact the pitch and inspire the next generation of footballers.
