Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno is not underestimating Nairobi United ahead of the Football Kenya Federation Cup final scheduled for Sunday, June 29, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Otieno assured fans that the team will give their best effort on Sunday and provide them with something to celebrate.
“Our fans deserve better; the expectation was to win both Cups. Now that the Police have already won the league, we must put up a strong fight on Sunday to ensure our fans are happy,” he stated.
This match is crucial for Gor Mahia because a victory would earn them a spot in Africa’s prestigious CAF Confederation Cup next season. Additionally, K’Ogalo aims to recover from the disappointment of failing to defend their FKF Premier League title, losing out to Kenya Police FC.
“This game means a lot to me and my teammates because we are accustomed to being champions every season. I believe this title is within our reach this year,” Otieno added.
Philemon Otieno urged his teammates to give their all in the match, as this is their only opportunity to impress their fans.
“As one of the senior players in the team, it is my responsibility to motivate the younger players and ensure we perform well this weekend,” the long-serving Gor Mahia player concluded.
With the FKF Premier League title already lost, Gor Mahia now views the FKF Cup final as their last chance for redemption this season.
