Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards to earn millions after new deal with Azam TV

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will be grinning from ear to ear to the bank as they are set to receive even more financial reward aside from the regular guaranteed broadcast income all FKFPL clubs will receive following Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) seven-year deal with Azam TV.

On Thursday, FKF signed a one million USD (Ksh 148 million) a-year broadcast deal with Azam TV, which will see every club guaranteed to pocket Ksh300,000 shillings at the end of every match week.

However, K’Ogalo and Ingwe are set to receive an extra 240,000 USD (Ksh 35 million) a year in a separate partnership, as part of the money is set to be centered on producing programs that will exclusively feature both club’s content which will then be aired on Azam Channel Four HD.

Leopards once used to have Ingwe TV in a short-lived partnership with satellite broadcaster Zuku TV back in 2013,  but it is now set to be revived with the new deal.

Gor Mahia will also have another programme of their own, set to be aired on the same channel.

Both channels will seek to cover all things Leopards and Gor Mahia, from historical content to player features, interviews, reviews, and fan debates.

The partnership will run for seven years and is worth USD 1 Million for the first season, with an increment of 10% for the subsequent seasons.

Under the regular deal, Azam Media will air four matches in every round on their Pay TV and Digital platforms.

Azam are looking to pick up positives from their successful experience in Tanzania using Simba and Yanga to replicate the same with Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
