Gor Mahia signs Ugandan forward Rogers Mugisha

Gor Mahia have confirmed the signing of highly-rated Ugandan attacker Rogers Mugisha from UPL side Uganda People’s Defence Forces FC.

The skillful attacker was part of the Uganda U-20 team that finished at the 2023 U20 AFCON in Egypt. He replaces compatriot Peter Lwasa, who left Gor following the expiry of his contract.

Mugisha made the tournament’s group stage team of the tournament, being named man-of-the-match in their 2-1 win over the Central African Republic in February.

Mugisha started in all four of Uganda’s games at the tournament, where they were eliminated by the Nigeria u20s 1-0.

His performances earned him a call-up to the Uganda Cranes senior side for their AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania in March, but he failed to make an appearance off the bench.

Mugisha has previously spoken about a desire to represent Uganda at the World Cup. Joining Gor under the stewardship of John McKinstry, who has developed a knack for developing players, will help him in his quest to achieve that dream.
